In loving tribute to Constance Corrine Nielsen, born on March 24, 1938, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and who met our Lord and Savior on November 30, 2023, at the age of 85. Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald, brother Robert, and parents Arnold and Adina Gilberts. She is survived by her adoring sons Jeff (Kelly), David (Christie), Danny (Donna), Jim (Amy), along with 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Raised in the close-knit community of Sand Creek, Wisconsin, Connie graduated from Colfax High School in 1956. Her educational journey continued at Luther College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and she contributed her beautiful voice and musical talents to the Lutheran women's choir.

Connie and Don, who met in high school, exchanged vows on August 28, 1960, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that traversed Wisconsin, Washington, and Illinois before finding its home in Alabama. Together, they created countless memories, traveled extensively, and demonstrated unwavering commitment to their faith, marriage, and family.

While Connie initially pursued a career in elementary education, her greatest calling was in nurturing her four boys and supporting her husband. Connie and Don's home was a sanctuary of love, warmth and hospitality. Her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren and she embraced every moment spent with them, attending their various events with excitement and pride. Christmas and Easter held a special place in her heart, where she celebrated traditions around Christ. Her home during the holidays in particular was a place of pure joy, love and lots of laughter. Connie also enjoyed traveling, creating memories through photo albums, scrapbooks, cooking and hosting countless events.

A devoted Christian, Connie's unwavering faith guided her through life. For many years, she shared her musical gifts as the choir director and minister of music at Concordia Lutheran Church allowing her to fulfill her passion for both education and music. Her Sundays were devoted to leading worship, sharing her talents on the piano, organ, and with her voice. In later years, she attended Fullness Christian Fellowship where she served as a greeter and engaged in various other acts of service for her church community. She was a prayer warrior, constantly offering words of encouragement and kindness. Connie's infectious smile, welcoming demeanor, and open heart allowed her light to shine bright to all those she came in contact with.

Connie's life was a symphony of love, faith and family. We express deep gratitude for the years, the memories, and the gift of her presence. Though we mourn her physical absence, we find peace in the hope of a joyous reunion in the embrace of our Creator. Connie will forever be remembered as a woman of grace, love, and unwavering devotion to both her family and her faith. In our hearts, her legacy lives on, and we eagerly anticipate the day we can see her smiling face again.

Love from all of us!!
