Colin Jackson "Jack" Cole, 98, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2015. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Captain Henry Cobb "Cap" Cole and Harriet Augusta Jackson Cole; his first wife, Emily Brown Cole; one brother, Donald Ward Cole; and one sister, Virginia Cole Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elsie Stripling Cole; sister-in-law, Margaret Alverson Cole; and nine nephews and nieces. Jack graduated from Springville High School in 1936. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII from 1943-1946, fighting in the South Pacific Theather. After his discharge in 1946, he attended Howard College from 1947-1949 graduating with honors from the School of Pharmacy. After working three years as a pharmacist for Pizitz, he went to work at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Birmingham, where he was promoted to Chief Pharmacist. He retired from the VA in 1979. Jack served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 28 years, retiring with a total of 32 years of service. Jack was a member of Hullett Chapel Methodist Church in Springville for 70+ years. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 1pm until 2pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. A graveside service will begin at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East on Tuesday, with Rev. Herb Robertson officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
