Clyde Haynes, 101, passed away on April 6, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Clyde Haynes was born on August 13, 1921 in Wylam, Alabama, to David Alexander Haynes and Rosa Mae Morton.
Clyde graduated from Hueytown High School in 1940 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree and later a master’s degree from The University of Alabama. He worked in education in the Birmingham School System.
Clyde married Betty Sewell on October 7, 1950 in Tuscaloosa. The couple had two children, Dianne and Yvonne.
Clyde loved serving in his church and was most recently a member of Lakeside Baptist. He is best known for his singing voice and sang in many church choirs. He taught Sunday school in the youth ministry. He also served as an active deacon in two of the churches he attended.
Clyde also served as a Corporal in the Army‘s Air Force. He served at Headquarters in the 439 Troop Carrier Group during World War II.
Clyde is survived by Betty Sewell Haynes - Wife, Dianne Cline – Daughter, Chris Cline (Kim) – Grandson, Kellen – Great-Grandson, Evan and Owen – Step Great-Grandsons, Yvonne Bibby – Daughter, Ruth Bibby – Granddaughter, Haydn Bibby (Jenna) – Grandson, Angela – Great-Granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on, April 13, 11 AM- 12PM at Lakeside Baptist Church. The service for Mr. Clyde Haynes will be held on April 13, at 12 PM at Lakeside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, in Montevallo, Alabama with honors.
