Clyde J. Dunkin, 68, of Walters, OK Funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 with Burial following at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 5-7:00 PM. Clyde Junior Dunkin was born October 28, 1944, in Cullman County, AL and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on March 6, 2013 at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 6 days. Clyde grew up in Hayden, Alabama and entered the military following high school. He married Karen Sue Russell on June 7, 1965 in Birmingham, AL and the couple made their home in various states and overseas, moving to Walters, OK from Alabama in 1981. The retired 1SGT was proud to have served his country honorably for 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1985. Clyde enjoyed joking around, collecting coins, gardening, helping others and taking care of animals. He provided many flags for the Walters Schools and collected their weathered flags for proper disposal. He was preceded in death by his one true love wife, Karen Sue Dunkin; parents; an infant daughter, Scarlet Marie Dunkin; a brother, Robert Wilson Dunkin; a sister Mae Belle Brown and a granddaughter, Alexis Dunkin. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde Junior Dunkin, II and Stephanie of Walters, OK, Scott Dunkin and Chris of Waurika, OK; a daughter, Rose Marie Dunkin of Walters; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Elise, Teresa, Eric, and Hannah Dunkin; 2 brothers, Joe William Dunkin of Cordova, SC and Dewey Dunkin of Cullman, AL; 5 sisters, Lucille Virginia Crittenden of Warrior, AL, Irene Opal Weaver of Oneonta, AL, Gertrude Dunkin and Lena Mae Dunkin both of Hayden, AL and Bobbie Sue Duncan of Oneonta, AL; dear friends, JoAnn Licata and Rick Marvelli; other relatives and many friends.
