Clive Earl Pass went home to his heavenly rest at the age of 88 on June 13th, 2022. He passed away in his sleep at home with Barbara by his side.
Clive was born in Oneonta, Alabama January 13th, 1934. When he was a child, his family moved to Palmerdale where he most of the rest of his life. He was an animal lover, and the family always had dogs and cats. He was known as quite a fast runner, earning him the nickname “Citation”, which was a famous racehorse of the 1940’s. As a teen he hitchhiked to Tarrant to work at an A & P grocery store to help support his family while attending Tarrant High School. It was also during this time Clive joined the Palmerdale Methodist Church.
Clive married his high-school sweetheart, Barbara Sue Best, on June 2nd,1956 and prepared to raise a family. He was drafted into the Army for two years and stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington state. While living in Tacoma, Clive and Barbara welcomed a daughter, Susan Melinda, on June 19th, 1957. When his time with the Army was complete, he spent a few years in the Army Reserves and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1962. He spent the duration of this activation in Virginia. Afterwards, the family returned to Palmerdale and settled into rural community living. During his life, he worked for Loveman’s Department Store, Vulcan Metal, Clow Corporation, and eventually the U.S. Post Office from which he retired.
Clive enjoyed playing softball and volleyball on the church teams and loved watching Auburn football. He was a good cook and baked great cakes and breads. In the 1970’s he and Barbara and the family went camping quite a bit and had two Honda off-road bikes for an occasional foray into the woods. They loved trail riding.
You could not find a more loving, caring, or kind husband, father, or grandfather. He was generous to a fault, a good neighbor, and never met a person he did not like. He was never known to be anything less than congenial and quick to laugh. Everybody that met him liked him.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara, his son Brian (Jane), his daughter Judy (Darren) and former daughter-in-law Elise. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan on August 15th, 2021.
The greatest joy of his later years was his grandchildren Brittany White (Tyrel), Trevor Pass, Jeremiah Loomis (Brianna), Courtney Cowgill (Eli), Lucas Breimhorst; as well as his great-grandchildren Kadence, Tyler, and Autumn White, and the latest addition, 2 yr old Isaiah Loomis. Nothing could make his eyes light up more than seeing any of them come through his door. During the time of his illness, looking at picture of them could always make him smile.
Thank you, Clive, for loving us all. We’ll miss you and see you later.
Love,
All of us.
