Chris Edgeworth

Christopher Brent Edgeworth, affectionately known as “Chris,” passed away peacefully at Shelby Memorial Baptist Hospital in Alabaster, Alabama, on September 1, 2024. He was 48 years old.

Chris was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 21, 1976, to Sandra Manning Edgeworth and Dennis Cole Edgeworth. He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1994 and attended Jefferson State Community College, both in Birmingham. He had a short career at Tuscaloosa and Alabama Scale Companies before establishing himself as an independent contractor with specialization in construction and mechanics.

Chris was an active member of McElwain and Shades Mount Baptist Churches and The Church of the Highlands. He loved attending youth and participating in mission trips.

Throughout his life, Chris enjoyed working with his hands and outdoor living. He was highly skilled at repairing complicated mechanical things, enjoyed cooking, and outdoor activities such as boating, deep sea fishing, hiking, and camping as well as raising and training dogs. More than any activity, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter and teaching her his love for outdoors and life skills.

Left to cherish precious memories are his daughter, Alliyah Grace Edgeworth (Allie) of Chelsea, AL; parents, Sandra Edgeworth Charlton and Steve Charlton, Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers Barrett Edgeworth (Bethany), Hoover, AL; Jim Charlton (Robin), Daphne, AL; Kevin Charlton (Dede) and John Charlton (Rachael), both of Tuscaloosa, AL. In addition, Chris leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Chris was predeceased in death by his father, Dennis Cole Edgeworth; grandparents, Frazier and Lillian Edgeworth, Lema Thomas and Jim Manning; and sister, Rhonda Charlton Neil (Jeff).

A visitation and service honoring Chris’ life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Highway,

Trussville, AL 35235. The visitation will be at 1:00 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Sean Thompson will be the officiant. The burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Barrett and Cole Edgeworth; Jim, Kevin, and John Charlton; and Robert Moak, Jr.
