Christopher Brice Charping, 31 of New Kent, Virginia.

Our beloved "Chris" went home to be with his savior September 15, 2008. Christopher was born March 31, 1977 in Abingdon, Virginia to Eddie and Ronda Charping. He was preceded in death by his father Eddie M. Charping. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candace Charping. He was the father of Kiersten Marie Charping. Chris was an amazing Daddy, incredible husband, and much loved son and brother; he will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his mother Ronda Charping; brother Michael Charping (Misty), sister Tammy McDaniel (Ray), nieces Michaela and Madison Charping, Crystal McDaniel, Allie and Hannah Roberts; nephews Blake Briscoe, Gary McDaniel, Joshua and Zachary Roberts. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Allene Sykes of Birchleaf, Virginia. His mother-in-law, Nannette Roberts (Steve) of Birmingham, AL., and father-in-law David (Ester) Laughin of Huntsville, AL., and brother-in-law Derek Roberts of Savannah, Ga. Additionally, Chris is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended family. Chris was a veteran of the war in Iraq. He served as Sergeant in the US Army and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Forces Reserve Medal. He served his country proudly. He was employed by DeWalt Corporation as Services Operational Manager in Richmond, Va. He had previously worked with the Birmingham DeWalt Service Center. He will be greatly missed by his working family in both the Richmond and Birmingham Service Centers. Christopher was a graduate of E.B. Erwin High School; Birmingham, AL. Christopher was a rededicated Christian and attended church at Hopewell Baptist Church, New Kent, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 2:00 p.m with Pastor Greg Pulling , Hopewell Baptist Church, New Kent, Va officiating. A reception will follow at 1257 Grayson Valley Parkway, Birmingham 35235. "He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
