Christine Self

SELF, CHRISTINE TUCKER age 90, of Clay, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2015. She worked early on in retail and later as a seamstress bur her most important role was that of wife and mother. She was a member of Clay United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, and sang soprano in the choir. Her relationship with Jesus was steadfast to the end. Though Alzheimer's robbed her of most of her memories, she retained the ability to sing hymns and pray up to the final weeks of life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Hartford Self, her parents Fred and Hassie Tucker, and siblings Connie Tucker, Grant Tucker, Clifford Tucker, Daniel Tucker, Roy Tucker and Evelyn Tucker Self. She is survived by daughter Karen Self Colley and sons Ronald Self, Stan (Deborah) Self, and Stephen Self, grandchildren Kristl (Adam) Pelz, Laurl Self, Cherry (Mark) Pittman, Justin (Megan) Self, Jared (Tracy) Self, Marla Self, Jacob (Laura) Self, and great-grandchildren Matthew Pittman, Caitlyn Self, Olivia Self, Kearsen Self, Tyler Self, Kinsley Self, Karah Self, Magdalyn Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service with Rev. Mike Pope officiating will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 23, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville Alabama with burial at Clay Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clay United Methodist Church. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
