Christine M. Cranford, 73 of Trussville, passed away on March 8, 2011, after a courageous twenty-six year battle with cancer. Mrs. Cranford was born October 25, 1937, to Miller Matthew and Jessie Berry McDowell. She was a 1955 graduate of Southern Choctaw High School. She received a Bachelor's degree from Livingston State Teachers' College and then a Master's degree from The University of Alabama. Mrs. Cranford retired after teaching for 27 years; she was dedicated and much loved in her profession. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Trussville for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pauline McDowell Knapp. Survivors include her husband, Claude M. "Buddy" Cranford; three children, Kathy Haynes (Bob), Ken Cranford (Gena), and Brad Cranford (Beth); six grandchildren, Josh Haynes (Adrienne), Emily Pazmino (Hunter), Reed Cranford, Grey Cranford, Lauren Cranford, and Sam Cranford; one great granddaughter, Brooklynn Hope Pazmino; brother, Jerry McDowell (Mary); sister-in-law, Janis Cranford and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, beginning at 12:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Graveside services at 1:00 P.M. with Buddy Champion officiating in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
