Chris Luther

Chris Elton Luther born January 26, 1918 died peacefully in Mobile on November 13, 2013 at the age of 95. Chris was a native of Double Springs, Alabama and a resident of Birmingham for over 50 years before moving to Mobile.

Chris earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama and a master's degree from Vanderbilt University's George Peabody College of Education. He retired after a 40 year career as an agent with State Farm Insurance Companies.

Chris served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the occupation forces in Japan. He is survived by his sons Michael Robert Luther (Judy) of Rancho Mirage, California and Jeffrey Lynn Luther (Cara) of Mobile, Alabama; one grandson Christopher Mathew Luther (Robin) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and two granddaughters Kathryn Townsley Luther and Cara Louise Luther of Mobile, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with graveside services to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Jimmy Hale Mission, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
