Charlsie Taylor

d. March 31, 2017

Charlsie Hall Ridenhour Taylor, "Granny", a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, age 89, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2017. She was a graduate of Phillips High School and attended Howard College in Birmingham (now Samford University) and Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a legal secretary at Lange, Simpson, Robinson & Somerville and later at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart until her final retirement in 2004, a vocation she loved, second only to her love for God, family and music. She and her husband, Verne Taylor, touched many lives with their music as they served in Baptist churches in the Southeast. Charlsie has always given credit to her parents and the leaders of Calvary Baptist Church in Birmingham for her early Christian training and encouragement in the Lord's service. She was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville, Alabama at the time of her death. In addition to her parents, Bill and Elsie Hall, her sister, Betty Jo Hall, and sister-in-law, Joanne Hall, Charlsie was preceded in death by her husbands, Verne Taylor and Norman Ridenhour; son, James Dwight Taylor; grandsons, Jon Marc Roberts, Jr., Todd Everett Taylor, and great granddaughter, Darby Kate Roberts. She is survived by her children, Donna Jo Tomblin (Keith), Debbie Bruner (Charles), David Taylor, and Deanie Taylor; step-son, Wayne Ridenhour, Sr. (Donna); grandchildren, Laura Tomblin (John), Jennifer Noah (Sandy), Julie Davis (Jeff), Jason Roberts (Brittney), and C.J. Taylor Praytor (Mitch); step-grandchildren, Wayne Ridenhour, Jr. (Kim), and Ginger Harman (O.J.); great-grandchildren, Brooke Noah, Taylor Noah, Tyler Rivera, Will Roberts, Charlie Jane Roberts, Emma Ines, and Andy Praytor; step-great-grandsons, Will Ridenhour and Andrew Harman; brother, James R. Hall; brother-in-law, Dr. John C. Taylor (Sally); many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3 at 11am at Deerfoot Baptist Church, with Dr. Charles Carter officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
