Charlotte Elizabeth McCool died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 21st, 2016 at the age of 83. She was born on Feb 2nd 1933 and was a 1949 graduate of Woodlawn High School. She married the late Donald L McCool in 1953 and was married for 31 years until his death in 1985. Charlotte was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a graceful, compassionate and caring spirit about her. She was devoted to her family, friends and church. She was an active member of Huffman United Methodist where she taught Sunday School and volunteered many hours of service. She loved her church family and took great pleasure in her work there. Charlotte was a former member of St. John's United Methodist. Charlotte loved classical music and going to the Symphony. Her other interests included playing the piano, reading, doing crossword puzzle and taking care of her cats. She devoted most of her time to taking care of her family and friends. Charlotte was a true care giver to all those around her. Charlotte retired from the North Alabama Conference to the United Methodist Church. She had many coworkers and friends there who loved her dearly. During the years with the United Methodist Conference, she worked many hours with the Emmaus Walk and the Academy for Spiritual Formation of the Upper Room. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She gave us all courage and hope. She experienced great loss in her lifetime but persevered through her faith in the Lord. She was preceded in death by Husband Donald L McCool, daughter Angela McCool, son Donald E McCool, parents Edwin and Carolee Moody. Surviving family members: daughter in law, Karen McCool, grandchildren Caitlin McCool Allen (Zach), Dylan McCool, brothers: Jack and Mae Moody, Joe and Ursula Moody, sister in law Sherri Moody, dear friend and cousin Kathy Cottingham, sisters in law Bettye McCool, and Lee McCool, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be on Wednesday, Oct 26, at 1pm at Huffman United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 11am until 1pm Wednesday. Charlotte's last act of service for her church was to draft a letter to the congregation regarding the Fall 2016 Stewardship effort. In that spirit the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Huffman Methodist Church 711 Gene Reed Road Birmingham, AL 35235.
