Charlie Daniel Turner, age 90 passed away on September 18, 2014. He was a resident of Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City. Charlie graduated from Howard College. He served in WWII as a paratrooper on D/Day, June 4, 1944. He spent 40 years of service in the Army and the Army Reserves while serving as a claim authorizer for Social Security, before retiring from there after 30 years of service. He was an ordained Baptist minister since 1958 He was a long-time member of Huffman Baptist Church. He enjoyed conversation and loved people meeting people. Charlie's most favored past time was spending time with his family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys Turner; sons, Charlie Daniel Turner, Jr., Gerald L. Turner and Harold Wayne Turner; Parents Harley G. Turner and Viola Suddeth Turner; siblings: Reba, Jack, Charles, Lamar and Betty. He is survived by his loving daughters: Charline T. Pritchett (Kenneth), Nancy T. Edwards and Susan T. Pond; sister, Ann Hester; brother, Johnny Turner; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home from 11am until 12pm. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, September 20th. Burial will immediately follow. Jefferson Memorial n Trussville is directing.
