Charlie Julian Hester, age 87, of Concord/Pell City, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at his home on Logan Martin Lake. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Ruth; his daughter, Sandy Goodwin; two granddaughters, Carla Maul (Steve Conkerton) and Christy Nason (David); and three great grandchildren, Ashlee Azziz, Rylee Maul and Conner Lee Nason. Charlie is also survived by his step granddaughter, Kelly Nease (BJ) and two step great granddaughters, Nicole Miller (PJ) and Kelsey Kennedy. He is predeceased by his parents, Charlie Edgar and Lillie Mae Hester and 5 siblings.
Charlie was born in Concord, Alabama. He was ordained and served as a Deacon at Raimund Heights and later become a Deacon at Concord Baptist. After retiring to Logan Martin Lake, Charlie attended Cropwell Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school classes for 51 years and witnessed the blessings of the Lord every opportunity he had. He was known for his love of fishing, love of life and living every day for the Lord. Charlie was a WWII veteran from 1945-46 serving in the Philippines. He was also retired from US Steel in Fairfield, AL. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 15th from 1-2 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Trussville, AL. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 with Brother Arzell Hyche officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers the requests that donations may be made to your church or favorite charity.
