Charles Wolford

Wolford, Charles William Sr. (Bill) Age 85,

passed on January 22nd 2010. Bill was raised in the B'ham, AL areas of Fultondale and Gardendale where he learned to appreciate nature, especially birds, which became a passion in his later years. Bill joined the army in June 1943 where he became "Rebel" to his northern compatriots. He was with the 501st Medical Company attached to the 101st Airborne. Rebel participated in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes (the Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe. He drove an ambulance into the waters on "D" day near Normandy Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers and his beloved daughter Pat. He is survived by his sister Evelyn and brother Donald, seven children, 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His desire to live life will always be remembered. Visitation will be January 24th 5-7pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Chapel services on January 25th at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
