Charles Mehaffey

Charles Brooke Mehaffey, 87, passed away August 24, 2009. Brooke was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Virginia. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was employed with South Central Bell for his entire working career. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed singing, played the piano by ear and performed with the Alabama Jubilee Barbershop Chorus and was a volunteer for many years at St. Vincent's Hospital. Brooke was also a member of Trussville United Methodist Church and the Outreach Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Elizabeth Murray Mehaffey. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Nell Holcomb Mehaffey; his children, Donna Mehaffey Kraselsky (David), Lisa Mehaffey Calvert (Robert), Leann Holcomb Barrett (Robert), Stephen Holcomb (Connie) and Leslie Holcomb McDuffie (Robert); grandchildren, Lauren Kraselsky, Katie Kraselsky Held (Brian), Whitney McDuffie, Meagan McDuffie Nichols (Jacob), Jennifer McDuffie, Haley McDuffie, Joanna Holcomb, Kellie Holcomb, and great granddaughter, Jakeley Nichols. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27 beginning at 9:00 AM with Chapel services starting at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Trussville United Methodist Church. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
