Charles Jones

Charles R. Jones, Sr., age 84, died March 1, 2010. "Charlie" as he was known retired from the Birmingham Police Department as Detective Sergeant in 1978. He was officer of the year for the State of Alabama, a Mason, served in the Navy in World War II as a signalman and ran for State Senator. He was predeceased by one daughter, Patricia Ann Damico and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia "Ginny" Jones; Three children, Jennie Sue "Suzie" Ridgeway, Dianna Lynn "Terri" Cummins, and Charles Robert "Bob" Jones Jr; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was a good husband, Daddy and Paw Paw who was loved and leaves a great void in our hearts. He will be missed terribly by us all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7 beginning at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Chapel Services starting at 2pm with burial in Forest Crest Cemetery.
