HEATON, CHARLES HERSHAL, age 97, died October 13, 2009. He was born in Dekalb County on May 4, 1912 to Carl and Hester (Gunter) Heaton. He was retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. Mr. Heaton was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many friends and family members. Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Alma (Wesley) Heaton and daughter, Barbara Ann (Walter J., Sr.) Buckner. Surviving sisters and brothers-in-law, Lily Mae Heaton, Herbert Hopper, Louise Heaton, Sherrill Hale; grandchildren, Jerry Buchanan, Karen (Eric) Bonham, Tammy Black, Walter J. Buckner Jr. (Julie), Wayne Black, Tina (Mark) Tatum; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Heaton was blessed with the births of 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Faye Black, Panama City Beach, Florida; great granddaughter, Jessica Black, Ohio; brothers, Bill, Cecil and C.D. Heaton; sisters, Sybil Hopper and Helen Hale. A special thanks to his caregivers, Becky White and Debra Robinson and his physician, Dr. Steven Kulback. Our love and thanks to Carol Klinner, Sue and all our lovely neighbors in Calumet Gardens. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Pastor Pete Clifford, Pastor Randy Williams and Pastor Dewey Corder presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkway Christian Fellowship Church.
