Cecil Lamar Mayo, age 69, died on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Chelsea, Alabama. He was born on April 2, 1947 and he graduated from Gadsden High School in 1965. He went on to attend the University of Alabama and Samford University, graduating with a degree in Pharmacy in 1973 and spending 35 years in the profession. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Jean Garner and children, Laurie Mayo Bean (Matt) of Oneonta, Alabama, Jason Lamar Mayo (Sarah) of Chelsea, Alabama and grandchildren, Blake Bean, Mallory Bean and Andrew Bean all of Oneonta, Emily Mayo and Evan Mayo both of Chelsea, Alabama, his mother, Jewel Chambers of Attalla, Alabama and a sister, Myra Durham of Center Point, Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville, Alabama. Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 12 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, with the Reverend Bill Barnett officiating. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery, 2209 East Broad St. Gadsden, AL, 35903 following the memorial service. His family will receive friends an hour prior to services. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Alabama Alzheimer's Association or Diabetic Association in Mr. Mayo's memory. The family would like to recognize the efforts of Oxford Health Care and especially his long time aid, Miss Germaine, for care and compassion provided. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
