Carolyn Shirley

Carolyn S. Shirley was born on Nov. 17, 1923 to Otto and Maude Self. She entered Heaven's gate on Sept. 19, 2016. She had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Crestway Baptist Church and was very involved in the church activities. She was married 73 years to John R. Shirley. She retired from Internal Revenue in 1983 after 22 years. She was preceded in death by her son Wayne R. Shirley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband John R. Shirley, daughter Diann Capps (Cliff) of Birmingham, sister-in-law Raiford Jones of Spanish Fort, AL, grandchildren Chris Capps (Donna) of Chelsea, AL, Craig Capps (Ann) of Trussville, AL, Stacey Tucker (Johnny) of Argo, AL, great-grandchildren Jason Rohm, Jared Rohm, Jordan Capps, Jackson Capps, Lexi Key, Austin Tucker, Zach Tucker, Meaghan Tucker, nieces Marsha Ceravalo (Vince) of Pleasant Grove, AL, Christie Bate (Steve) of Chalkville, AL, Lisa Stewart (Jonathan) of Chelsea, AL, Jennifer Villafranca (Vince) of Orlando, FL. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm at Crestway Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Dementia/Alzheimer Association at www.alz.org.
