Carol Cox

Carol Leigh Cox, age 79, of Birmingham, passed away September 1, 2012. Mrs. Cox married May 15, 1954 to Dr. Walter H. Cox in Owosso, Michigan. Carol was an educator and administrative assistant who retired from UAB in 1998 in the Genetics Department. She was a member of Brookview Wesleyan Church in Irondale. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Fred A. and Leigh Green, siblings Don, Clifford, Jerry, Duane and Merlin Green and Betty Brunett. Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept 5 at 12pm at Brookview Wesleyan Church in Irondale with burial in the Alabama National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6pm until 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years Walter H. Cox, children Shannon Clayton, Arden Cox, Melanie Smith (Steve), siblings Richard (Edwina) Green, Doris (Tom) Humphreys, Stewart (Cathy) Green, Luann Pearsall, Freddie Green, grandchildren Jay (Jessica) Clayton, Brendan Clayton, Matthew Smith, Christy Gurie, Amos Vickers, numerous nieces and nephews.
