Carl Norman Moore, age 93 of Gardendale died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at BMC Princeton in Birmingham. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Moore and Lennie White Moore; his sister, Nettie Moore and two brothers and sisters-in-law; Howard and Dorothy Moore, Earl and Lucille Moore. Mr. Moore was a WWII Army Veteran where he fought at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, served under General Patton , was captured by the Germans twice and managed to escape; played semi-pro baseball from 1939 until 1943. He was employed as a painter with Lone Star Cement/ Cedardale Cement in Tarrant and retired after more than 36 years of service. He was a former member of Robinwood Baptist and Mt. Calvary Baptist and a member of Gardendale First Baptist. Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Marie Davis Moore; his daughter, Jackie (Jack) Hill; his son, Danny (Linda) Moore; four grandchildren, Connie (Lee) Walker, Johnny (Kelly) Hill, Cheri (Scott) Crumpton and Carla (Jason) Eubanks; six great grandchildren, Magan Moore, Nicole Walker, Mitch Bromley, Brooke Allen, Luke Crumpton and Lyndi Allen. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 16, 20013 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Chapel. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Sunday 12/ 15/2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Jefferson Memorial East directing.
