Carl Hoffman, Jr.

August 15, 1931 — September 21, 2021

On September 21, 2021, Carl Hoffman, Jr. accomplished his last true desire here on earth. He concluded that all of his loving children and grandchildren were ready to rejoice his going home to the love of his life, Martha, and beloved daughter, Kim. Until his last moments, he was only thinking of others and concerned for his family.

In his early years, Carl Jr. served in the Army in Germany from 1948-1952. He married his wife Martha Cannon, in 1952 and together raised five children, Jan, Kay, Pete, Ann, and Kim. In 1976, they founded Mid South Controls Systems, which they ran together with their son for over 30 years. Carl could only be described as a work horse, and most would agree he was the hardest working man they ever knew.

Carl and his wife loved their grandchildren, including raising Jennifer Linn Smith and Jesika Linn Cater, as their own. As their family grew, so did their love for helping others. Both strong Christians, they donated much of their time and finances to missions.  Specifically, The Friends of Romania.  Although his beloved Martha left her earthly body almost 13 years before Carl, he was devoted to her until his last breath.

During his time here without his companion, he continued to work and spend time with his family. He maintained his passion for his church, Locust Fork Baptist; missions; and friends turned family he gained through both. He enjoyed playing “up at the property” on his toys, others might call heavy equipment, and spent every available minute in those woods. He lived a full and happy life walking in the steps of his Lord.  Always demonstrating to his family what it was to be a strong, compassionate Christian man.

He was surrounded by his adoring family until his last moments.

Celebrating his homecoming, Carl Hoffman Jr, ran to the open arms of wife, Martha C. Hoffman; his daughter, Lori Kim Hoffman Linn; Father Carl Hoffman Sr; Mother Estelle W. Hoffman; Sister Margie Baggett; Grandson Christopher Fingar. Carl Jr will be truly missed by his children Jan Hoffman Sandlin (Rocky); Kay Hoffman Crumpton (Mike); Carl Peter Hoffman III (Roberta); Ann Hoffman White (Ricky); sister Evangeline Bristow; brother-in-law, Max Baggett; sisters-in-law, Claire Cannon Steinforth and Linda Cannon, 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and countless other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville Friday, September 24, 2021, with family visitation at 11:00, an open service for anyone who wishes to attend at 12:00 and burial immediately following with family only. In lieu of flowers, please submit contributions to Locust Fork Baptist Church.
