Byron L Smith

Byron LaValle Smith, age 88, passed away on October 22, 2018 in his Birmingham home in the company of his children and his wife. He was born March 10, 1930 in East Lake and went to Barrett Elementary and graduated Woodlawn class of 48. He graduated from the University of Alabama. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart in the Korean War- 7th Division, 17th Regiment, H Company. Byron Smith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Frederick Smith, his four sons, Jeb (Jane), Rick (Necie), David, and Scott (Heather), his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24th at 1:30 p.m. with the Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m. Both the visitation and service will be held at South Roebuck Baptist Church located at 501 Mountain Drive, Birmingham, AL 35206.
