Byron Jones

Dr. Byron Dale Jones, age 62, died suddenly on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

Dr. Jones was born on August 30, 1960, in Japan to Margene and Charles Jones. He was raised in Montgomery, AL and graduated from high school in 1978. After graduation, he attended Auburn University at Montgomery and obtained his B.S. in Physical Science. Following his undergraduate degree, he attended medical school at the University of South Alabama and graduated first in his class. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Harvard University - Beth Israel Hospital and completed a Cardiology Fellowship at Emory University.

After completing this training, he served as an Active Duty Staff Cardiologist (Major) at Keesler Medical Center at Keesler Air Force Base from 1992-1996. Following this, he was a partner with Midstate Cardiology Associates in Nashville, TN from 1996-1999, a Staff Cardiologist at Norwood Clinic Cardiology from 1999-2003, and was a part of Alabama Cardiovascular Group beginning 2003 until his death.

Dr. Jones was board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine. He was a thoughtful and dedicated doctor. He was also passionate about travel, fitness, reading, astronomy, karate and so much more.

Survivors included his daughter, Kaitlin; five nieces and nephew, Jessica, Vanessa, Angela, Victoria, Amanda, and Lee. Dr. Jones was loved by many other surviving family members, including his great aunts, sister-in-law, cousins, friends and coworkers. He was preceded in his death by his parents and brothers.

The family will receive guests for visitation at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens with memorial services to follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel.
