Bruce W. Sullivan, age 89 of Birmingham, AL, was born May 1, 1924 to Minnie and Samuel Sullivan in Echola, AL. He passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Flossie Gay Sullivan; brother, J. C. Sullivan; sister, Frances Duncan; and beloved great grandson, Brenden Ryan Hill. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his daughter, Gail Hill; son- in- law, W. G.; grandson, Brian C. Hill and his wife Amy, Brandon G. Hill and his wife Julia; three precious great grandchildren, Makenze Jewel, Alyssa Michelle, and Colton Mitchell Hill; sister, Lorene Sullivan of Echola, AL; and a host of friends and relatives. Bruce Sullivan was a proud World War II Veteran who served his country in the European Theater (France, Germany, Italy, and later Africa). He was retired from L&N Railroad after 35 years of service and was a member of UTU Local 847. Mr. Sullivan's favorite pass times were hunting and fishing with his grandsons, visiting with his great grandchildren, and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide. His family wishes to thank his special caregiver and friend, Raquel Turner, for her devotion and kindness during his illness. A special thanks also goes out to Dr. Ferrell and the staff of Safe Harbor at Veterans Hospital in Birmingham, AL. The visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2014 from 1-2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ragan Boling officiating. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville directing.
