Borden S. Owen, of Birmingham, Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away March 31, 2009 at the age of 93. He was born June 5, 1915 to James and Martha Owen in Edwardsville, AL. He was a member of Huffman Baptist Church and worked for Southern Railroad for 42 years. He was a veteran in the 3rd U.S. Army serving in the European Theater during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Jessie M. Owen; his parents James and Martha Owen; sister: Dot Steed; and brothers: Ed Owen and Zeke Owen. He is survived by his sons: Patrick (Connie) Owen and Steve (Beth) Owen; daughter: Ginger (Terry) Pruet; sister: Mary Burgess; grandchildren: Emily Owen, Lindsey Smith, Stephanie Owen, Natalie Owen, and Dylan Pruet; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Owen will be deeply missed by his many friends and extended family. He was a kind a gentle man and a friend to all he met. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 1:00PM till the service at 2:00PM, with burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either Huffman Baptist Church or to the Jimmy Hale Mission. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
