Billy “Bit” Paschal Holsombeck, 87, of Huffman, passed away Sunday, July 8th surrounded by his family. A proud veteran, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he met the love of his life in Columbia, South Carolina. They moved back to Birmingham where they raised their family. After retiring from the Birmingham News with 40 years of service, he enjoyed years of camping and fishing with his family. He was an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Holsombeck, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Norma Free Holsombeck, two daughters Terri (Jim) Caradine and Tammy (Paul) Harbin. He leaves his adored grandchildren Blake (Kaci) Caradine and Courtney (Guy) Waller along with 6 precious great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church. Chapel services will be Wednesday, July 11, at Noon with visitation from 10am until service time. The family wishes to thank the loving care of St. Vincent’s Hospice and his caregiver Corey.
