Family and friends rejoice in the life of Billy Cooke, who went home to be with the Lord, March 22, 2025. Billy lived his life according to 2 Corinthians 8:21 he took pains to do what was right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.
Billy was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary Ann, they had 3 children: Sharon Jordan, Wayne Cooke, and Cathy Abramson. Billy was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him for his warmth, wisdom, and generosity.
Throughout his career Billy exercised an unwavering work ethic and deep sense of integrity and fairness—first in hardscrabble days on the road as a salesmen to success as the founder and owner of Petro Supply, Co. He was equally steadfast in his work as a deacon and Sunday School teacher, touching the lives of countless families across decades of service at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Hilldale Baptist Church, Southside Baptist Church, and Smoke Rise Baptist Church.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on March 31, 2025, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 p.m.
