Billy Brooks

Billy Ree Brooks, age 89 of Pinson, AL passed away on April 13, 2016 after a struggle with cancer. Mr. Brooks was a happy man with a great sense of humor. He served in Victory WWII, Navy for three years as a Seaman 1st and 2nd class ships cook. He always had great love and ability to cook and did so daily. He worked at Lowery and Zac Smith Printing Companies. In 1985 he and his wife of 63 years, Frances Brooks opened a print shop in Woodlawn on Georgia Road. He retired at age 80. He is predeceased by his wife, Frances Brooks and parents, O'Ree and Annie Brooks. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Poteet-Granzow (Doug Granzow) of Alabaster, AL; son, Billy O'Ree Brooks (Lynn) of Morris, AL; grandchildren: Jaree Poteet of Miami, FL, Clint Brooks (Felisha) of Morris, AL; a special friend, Sharon Espenlaub of Center Point, AL. "Mr. Brooks was a loving, kind, generous , and loyal man. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger. He will be truly missed. Our family lost a great man, but heaven gained an angel." Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL. A graveside service will take place at Jefferson Memorial Garden East in Trussville on Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Kenneth Stroup is officiating.
