Mr. Bill C. Bivins, Jr., 60, longtime resident of Pinson, AL went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 22, 2017 after a short battle of squamous cell carcinoma of the liver. Born June 28, 1957 in Birmingham, he was the son of the late Bill C. and Virginia Bateman Bivins, Sr. Mr. Bivins, Jr. married the love of his life, the former Carolyn Higginbotham on September 26, 1981. Together they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carolyn H. Bivins of Pinson are his two sons, Billy C. (Stephanie) Bivins III of Trussville, Alabama and Jacob L. Bivins of Pinson, Alabama, his sister Regina Freeman (Jef), his niece Rebecca Shurtz (Will), his nephews Joe Freeman (fiancAC. Lindsey) and John Freeman (Ashley) and his two great nieces Addie Freeman and Ginny Shurtz, as well as a host of family, friends and colleagues. Mr. Bivins, Jr. grew up in Brewton, AL where he attended T.R. Miller High School. He moved back to Birmingham in 1973 and graduated from Erwin High School in 1975. He attended Bessemer State Technical College and went on to work for Accurate Service Company from 1977-1981. He then worked as a part owner at Environmental Testing Services from 1981-1993. On June 28, 1994, Mr. Bivins, Jr. founded National True-Test, Inc. and led the company as President. He was a member of both the professional organizations NEBB and ASHRAE. Spending time with his family, camping, hunting, hiking, and SCUBA diving were a few of Mr. Bivins, Jr.'s favorite activities. He was a member of Church of the Highlands and attended the Fultondale Campus where he served on the Lawn Care Team. Mr. Bivins, Jr. was also a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 750. Mr. Bivins, Jr. was known as a hard worker who had a kind heart. He was always willing to help anyone at any time. A special thanks to Hope Hospice for going the extra mile in providing support and comfort to both Mr. Bivins, Jr. and his family. Contributions in memory of Mr. Bill C. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday at 12 PM in the chapel and the burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Rev. Tyler Vineyard will be officiating over the services.
