Betty Graham Wilson went to be with her Heavenly Father May 14, 2021.
She had many loves in her life. Number one was her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of First Baptist Church Pinson throughout her entire life.
Her second love was her devoted husband of 55 years, John Wilson. They were married until his death in 2001. They married after dating only six weeks and spent their entire lives loving each other. After they retired, they spent several years travelling in their motorhome with their Allegro Motorhome Club friends. They also loved gardening and preparing the harvests for family to enjoy year-round.
Her third love was for her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished trips with her family to destinations such as Disney World, Point Mallard, Miramar Beach, and Mentone.
Her fourth love was cooking, especially at Christmas. She proudly confectioned Christmas candy and cookies with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. All of her co-workers came to expect her delicious divinity at Christmas time. Her husband always declared that he ate better than any old man in Pinson!
Her fifth love was teaching. She taught history classes at Hewitt Trussville Junior High School. Her students would probably tell you that she was a hard teacher, but they also were confident in the fact that she was genuinely interested in their success.
She also loved crafting. She never ceased to amaze everyone with her talents in sewing, weaving, tole painting, quilt making, crocheting, doll making, and appliqueing. Her granddaughters will always cherish the adopt-a-dolls she crafted for them. Many of her creations will be cherished by those she gifted with them for years to come.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ida and Russell Graham, sisters Jeanette Hand and Ruth Carter, and her loving husband of 55 years John C. Wilson.
She is survived by her sister Jane Bailey; daughters Mary Ann Davis (Danny) and Susan Dungan; grandchildren, Angie Hancock (Jeff, Bethany Ann, Madelyn), Rachael Hammond (Carl, Carter, Anna Catherine), and Maegan Lyons (Aaron, Justin, Madison); and her beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 17th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville Alabama. The viewing is scheduled from 1pm until 2 pm with the service in the Chapel at 2pm.
Her family is grateful for the support from family, friends, and her church family. A special thank you to her God-sent caregivers Debra and Brandy. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to First Baptist Church Pinson.
