Betty White

November 9, 1931 — January 5, 2023

BETTY KEITH WHITE 91 (11/09/1931-01/05/2023) passed away in the home of her daughter in Helena, Alabama, surrounded by her family. Betty is now in the presence of her beloved Jesus and has been reunited with the love of her life, BOBBY DALE (“Bob”) WHITE 89 (01/02/1932-04/15/2021). She was predeceased by her daughter, Sheri Charmagne W. Sturgis. Betty was happiest in her kitchen where she worked tirelessly preparing meals and baked goods for friends, family and those in need. She volunteered at BSA Hospital for many years amassing over 10,000 hours of time. She was active for many years in the Amarillo, Texas chapter of Daughters of the Nile. She also loved crocheting many keepsake items for her family and friends. Betty retired in 1986 from the Bureau of Reclamation after 32 years of service in the Accounting Department. She achieved the thrill of a lifetime when she went sky diving at age 65. Bob passed away peacefully in his home in Amarillo, Texas with loved ones at his bedside. He was a salesman for Cadillac for 52 years. He had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his airplane to visit family and to special events. Bob was an active member of the Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo, Texas for over 50 years. He was also an active member in The Lions Club of Amarillo. Bob was also a USAF veteran of the Korean War. Betty and Bob enjoyed a great many things together throughout their 68 years of marriage, including flying on Bob’s airplane, going on numerous cruises won by Bob as a top salesman for Cadillac, a tour of Europe, trips to Hawaii, spending time at the lake, snow skiing in New Mexico and Colorado, square dancing, golfing, bowling and entertaining their many friends and family in their home. Betty and Bob leave behind and are sorely missed by their loved ones, daughter Nina (Lee) Gunnin, granddaughter Christie (Keith) Marks, grandson Kerry (Julie) Russo, and great-grandchildren Hannah Marks, Bailey Marks, Riley Marks and Cooper Russo. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Comfort Care/Aveanna Hospice and caregiver, Kimberly LaGrone for their love, dedication and compassion in caring for Betty. Private burial for Betty and Bob will be held at a later date. Memorials for Betty and Bob, together, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
