Betty Summerour

Mrs. Betty Sue Rains Summerour, age 86 of Birmingham died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. Betty was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in the Huffman/Roebuck area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Newt Sylvester Rains and Emma Lenora Orr Rains; her husband, James Allen Summerour; her son, James Burton Summerour; her grand-son-in-law; William "Billy" Stewart and nine siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Donna S. (Jim) Hayes of McCalla; her son, Bob (Becky) Summerour of Taylors, S.C.; three grandchildren, Shannon (Jon) Keevert, Kaci (Travis) Chapman and Jennifer L. Stewart. Five great grandchildren; Chase and Kelsey Keevert, Emily Chapman, Reese Stewart and Brice Chapman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 356 Killough Springs Road, Birmingham, AL 35215. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Barbara H. Mosley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00pm at the funeral home prior to the services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Jefferson Memorial of Trussville directing 205-322-0543.
