Betty Nichols

Betty Harper Nichols,85, of Palmerdale departed this life on Saturday August 10, 2019. She is present in heaven with her beloved husband, John, to whom she was married for 54 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents William and Era Harper of Tallassee, Al and by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her brother, Russell Harper (Sandra), stepchildren Jim Nichols (Bonnie) and Vicki Self (Ted) as well as her niece Sheila Ashford, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a longtime member of Palmerdale United Methodist Church and active in WMU. She received her nursing degree from St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Montgomery in 1952. She retired from the Jefferson County Health Department as an R. N., and then taught at the American Red Cross. She was an avid fan of the University of Auburn. She was well loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
