Betty Marlin

Betty Townson Marlin, 76, of Springville, Alabama, passed away on November 13, 2011. Mrs. Marlin was born May 23, 1935 in Blount County, Alabama. She attended Snead State Community College and The University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Birmingham City School System. She was a member of Springville Methodist Church and was active in the Springville Arts Council. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Hugh Marlin; daughter Laura Sellers (Jason) of Smyrna, Georgia and two sons: Andrew Marlin (Jane-Marie) of Birmingham, Alabama and Thomas Marlin (Nina) of West Point, Mississippi; and five granddaughters. She is also survived by sisters Mary Jean Ledbetter of Guntersville, Alabama and Doris Mitchell of Arab, Alabama. Services will be Wednesday, Nov 16, at 12pm in the Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Tuesday. Reverend Mike Ratliff and Reverend Rusty Tate will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Springville First United Methodist Church. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
