Betty Cooke

Betty Louise Cooke, age 96 passed away on August 15, 2013 in Woodstock, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bernard Cooke; parents, Flora Bell and Thomas Goodwin; brothers, Jesse Thomas Stephens and Luther Arnold Stephens; sister, Mary Elizabeth Crenshaw; and granddaughter, Beverly Lane Michaud.

Louise lost the love of her life in 1963. She chose to remain single for the remaining 50 years of her life. But Louise was never truly alone as she had her three surviving children, son, Billy Clarence Cooke; daughters, Tommie Lane and Charlotte Campbell; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.

Louise's father passed away before she was a year old but she grew up with her mother, grandmother, papa, and several uncles. They would get together with their pianos, fiddles, and guitars and sing gospel music. One of Louise's last words were "play the piano, Mama." Oh what beautiful music she is hearing now.

Her last years was spent with a large portion of her family. But most important the time with all her grandbabies from Va, Al, and Ga. 5 generations! What a blessing!
