She attended Blount County School and worked her way through college, graduating from Alabama College, now the University of Montevallo. She later earned a master's degree in Education from the University of Alabama. After her husband's U.S. Navy service in the Solomon Islands during World War II, the couple lived in Auburn while he earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Upon his graduation, the couple returned to their native Blount County and lived in the Clear Springs community until 1956 when they moved to Tuscaloosa. The Ingrams moved to Homewood in 1964. Mrs. Ingram taught school during four decades, including work at Northington Elementary in Tuscaloosa, Edgewood Elementary in Homewood, Woodlawn High School in Birmingham and H.J. Oliver School in Gate City. She and her husband were longtime members of First United Methodist Church in Birmingham and the McDorman Sunday School Class there. Mrs. Ingram loved her family and home life. She spent much of her free time growing flowers and plants and managing various projects in and around her house. It is appropriate that her last years were spent in her home. Visitation will be in the parlor at First United Methodist Church in Birmingham from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday March 30, with a memorial service in the church's chapel at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church.
