Alphonso Bernard Moore was born on August 14, 1940, in Aynor, South Carolina. He was the son of the late David and Earlease Moore. Bernard was called to rest on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Robert L. Howard Veterans Home in Pell City, Alabama. He was 80 years old. Bernard was born and raised in Aynor (Horry County) South Carolina. He attended the local South Carolina school system. He enlisted in the US Army in December 1961 and was stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1964. Bernard moved to Paterson, New Jersey where he met and married Patricia Boyd in 1966 and had one son together. They divorced and he then moved to Detroit Michigan. Once in Detroit Michigan, Bernard met and married Mary Taylor in 1971 and they had one daughter and one son together. The union ended in divorce. Bernard decided to move back to Paterson, New Jersey. He then met his long-time friend, Debbie Lang and they moved to Pocono, Pennsylvania where they resided for 15 years. Bernard was a fun-loving person who loved to be around his family sharing his humor. He brought fun and laughter every time his tall stature walked into the room. While in New Jersey, Bernard worked for the New Jersey Transit and was President of Local union until retirement in 2003. After retirement, Bernard moved to Birmingham, AL in 2003 and resided there spending time with his sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. Unfortunately, he experienced a stroke in August 2009 which left him immobile and unable to do the things that he was accustomed to do. His family was by his side until he departed this life. Bernard was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Moore, Robert Moore, Jack Moore, Lewis Moore and two sisters: Mattie Lee Carter and Johnnie Mae McQueen. His life and memories will be cherished by his children Bernard Moore of Paterson, New Jersey; Bernadette Moore of Detroit, Michigan and Ali Moore (Kimberly) of Columbus, Ohio; cherished grandfather of Bernard Jr. of New Jersey, Braxton and Nora of Ohio. Siblings: Sallie Moore of Pennsylvania; Evelyn Jones and Opal (Howard) Wright of Alabama; Beverly (George) Loynes of Michigan; Juliene (Donald) Pastorious of Canada; Luther Moore of Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
