Barbara Whitfield

Barbara Gilbert Whitfield , loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away January 27, 2021, into the excited embrace of her mother and father. Barbara was born in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Woodlawn High School. She has spent the last 49 years with the love of her life, Herbert “Whit” Whitfield, or Daddy as she called him. Barbara loved nothing more in life than being surrounded by her family. She was also an avid traveler, and spent years riding in the RV and visiting some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Her devotion to her entire family could not be surpassed. The impact she had on their lives is her legacy, and for that we are grateful. She is survived by her sister Janice Collier (Bobby); husband Whit; sons Jim Dunn (Tammy), Keith Dunn (Phyllis) and Randy Whitfield (Tracy); daughters Cheri Grabany (Terry), Kathy Lane (Dale) and Carla Herrold (Sean); granddaughters Brandy Shotts (Danny), Crystalyn Stembridge (Adam), Amanda Coalson (Daniel), Candace Henderson, Cory Townsend (Caleb), and Lindsey Grabany (William Weller); grandson Jimmy Dunn (Kimberly); great grandsons Ty, Gus Brown, Jon, Nolan, Luke, Ford, Brody, and Barrett; and great granddaughters Vera, Cora, and Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, AL on Saturday, January 30 from 10-12. A private graveside service will follow immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society in her precious name.
