Barbara Hoffman

Barbara Ann Tucker Hoffman, 86, of Center Point, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2014. Mrs. Hoffman was born in Ensley, Alabama, in 1927, and was graduated from Ensley High School in 1945. She and John H. Hoffman of Chatom, Alabama, were married in 1945. During Capt. Hoffman's career in the U.S. Air Force, they resided in numerous locations throughout the United States, and returned to live in Birmingham in 1965. They were longtime members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, two sons (Thomas Tucker Hoffman and Daniel Mark Hoffman), one grandson (John Morris Hartsfield), three brothers (James Tucker, Edward Tucker, and David Tucker), and her parents (Lucy and James W. Tucker). She is also survived by her children: Jenny Hartsfield and husband, Sandee; John M. Hoffman and wife, Toni; Rebecca Brittain and husband, Richard; James H. Hoffman and wife, Linda; and Julie Schweer and husband, Alan. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Carla Troupe and husband, Damien; Karen Bimslager and husband, Ben; LeeAnn Fields and husband, Jeff; Michael Hoffman and wife, Doralina; Jacob Hoffman; Susan Gentle; Katherine Wilkerson and husband, Tim; Caroline Hoffman; Christine Schweer; and William Schweer. Her great grandchildren include Anna Troupe; Brooke and Luke Bimslager; Mac, Luke, and Sam Fields; Elisabeth Hoffman; and Nathan Gentle. And, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on May 18, 2014, at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Springbank Cemetery in Chatom.
