Barbara Ann Dawson

Barbara Speed Dawson passed away peacefully on October 1, 2020. Barbara was born on February 24, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama. She is predeceased by her parents, Dutch and Myrtle Speed, sister, Mary Speed Seale, and brother, Albert Speed. Still here to honor her memory is her loving husband of almost 68 years, Albert Eugene Dawson of Birmingham, Alabama, her daughter, Pat Turnipseed (Dwight), son, Al Dawson (Robin); four grandchildren, Nick Dawson (Kristen), Lacy Renda (Chris), Lori Crumley (Jamie), Clint Dawson; and seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Isabella, Haley, Emma, Ty, Mason and Anna Joy. Her greatest joy was her great-grandchildren and she enjoyed supporting them in the activities they were involved in. Barbara graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following in the chapel at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, Alabama 35235; masks are required. Burial will take place in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Serving You Ministries (6523 1st Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama, 35206; www.servingyou.org) in her name.
