Audrey Anderson

On Dec 19, 2018, Audrey Frances Parker Anderson stepped into the loving arms of her Savior and her sweetheart of 66 years, Odell Anderson, who passed away in 2013. Audrey was the precious mother of 5 children who honored her in a way that is rare today. They, along with their spouses, were able to care for her in her own home that she loved - what a wonderful tribute of their devotion to their deserving Mother. Audrey had 5 siblings from Louisiana that she loved deeply. Three have gone before her - Kate Thompson (Charlie), Rachel Cordell (Claude), and Otto Parker (Irma). And she leaves 2 behind- Ruth and Frank (FA) Guraedy and Roger and Dovie Parker (Oleta - dec.). Her brothers and sisters also have many wonderful children. Audrey was also so blessed to be loved by her husband Odell's family ever since they married. His siblings - Elaine and Buck (dec) Hobgood, Robert and Dorothy (dec) Anderson, Delbert and Love Anderson, Tommy and Mary Anderson, and all of their children added so much to her life. Since their marriage in 1946, Audrey and Odell served the Lord as members of the Church of God in Louisiana and were loved by wonderful friends in the Pelham and Alabaster Church of God after moving to Alabama in 1997. Pastor Ken Stroup was such a loving Pastor to them, as were so many others during her last 70+ years in the church. Their children and their families are so thankful for their heritage...what a testimony of faithfulness in serving Christ. Life will never be the same for her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Her 5 children are Sharon (Joe) Verdel, Janet (Darvin- truly another son to her) Fred, Carol (Mike) Pope, Mike (Jan) Anderson, Mark (Glenda) Anderson. Her 13 grandchildren are Jennifer (Joey) Swanson, Kristy (Micah) Voraritskul, Kelli (DJ) Chord, Tracy (Todd) Long, Amber (Josh) Howe, Karyn (Kenny) McCormick, Derek (Rachel) Anderson, Jared (Amber) Anderson, Jamie (Conrad) Cain, Phillip (Christy) Anderson, Ryan Verdel, Heather (Jacob) Mashburn, Dustin (Alyssa) Anderson. She also proud to have 27 great-grandchildren: Abby, Bella and Luke; Ethan and Molly; Brandon, Alex, Ashley and Addie Beth; Audrey and Greyson; Vesta and Sylas; Jordan and Eli; James, Patrick, William and Benjamin; Evan, Lyla and Ava; Ethan and Lacey; Gabriela and Tate; Atticus. We are so grateful to those who cared for her after her stroke- especially Z and Rory from Kindred. And for Leslie, LeAnne, April, Gayla and Chaplain Lee -all with Southeast Hospice- you are the most caring group of people who truly love your patients. We cannot express enough love and appreciation to Remonia (Phyllis) Vines. We called her our precious Angel. Mother and all of us truly love her and know she was an answer to our prayers in helping us care for Mama. We were so blessed by so many who found it so easy to love our dear Mother. In lieu of flowers, Mom would love if you gave to organizations close to her heart. She always supported her church, Alabaster Church of God (alabasterchurchofGod.org http://alabasterchurchofgod.org/) and Children's Cup, where her Grandson Dustin and his wife Alyssa serve including in South Africa in 2017.
