Arthur Gene "Bud" Shackelford

Arthur Gene (Bud) Shackelford, 79, of Margaret Alabama, passed away on November 26th, 2023.

Bud was born on March 12th, 1944 to A.T. and Joyce Shackelford in Birmingham, AL. During his early career, he worked as an insurance adjuster for Emmco Insurance and the Chrysler Corporation before starting and running his own claims service "Shackelford Claims Service" for 15 years. After which, he worked in sales and auto-salvage acquisitions for LKQ until his retirement.

In 1965, Bud met Judith Ray in Birmingham, AL where they shared their first date on New Years Eve and later married. They went on to raise 2 children, Keith and Kelly. Bud loved his family, and the Lord. He was a member and attended Bethel Baptist Church and was also a former deacon at his home church, Centercrest Baptist.

Bud had a passion for rebuilding cars, especially hot-rods. He loved to fish with Centercrest Bass Club, as well as his son and numerous friends. His son, Keith, nicknamed him "Lumberjack Shack" as you could find him and his grandsons cutting down trees on his property nearly every Saturday. In much of his free time, especially after retirement, he would be found out in his garage working on a project or making some repairs.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy. A daughter, Kelly Shackelford Payne and Daughter-in-law, Delina Rush Shackelford. Grandchildren Lee Blackwood(Yuria), Daniel Blackwood, Justin Payne(Kalyn), and Maddie Payne.

He is preceded in death by his son, Richard "Keith" Shackelford (Delina), father A.T. Shackelford, and mother Joyce Shackelford.

Services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation at 11:00 A.M. and chapel service at 12:00 P.M., followed by graveside service at 1:00 P.M.
