Arthur Maddox Fix, Jr. passed away on Monday morning, April 7, 2014, at his home in Milton, Georgia. He lived most of his life in Birmingham, AL. prior to his relocation to Georgia with his wife so they could live next door to his son, Art. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in active duty during World War II and the Korean Conflict, receiving receiving the World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the American Area Medal. His ship, the USS Petrof Bay received five battle stars and a presidential Unit Citation for WW II service. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madeline Stabler Fix of Milton, sons, Art Fix III of Georgia and Jeffery Louis Fix of Minnesota, and three grandchildren, Maddie, Lillian, and Louis Fix, all of Minnesota. His sisters and brother, Betty Smith, Elaine Robertson, and George Fix, of Alabama, also survive him. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. Services will directly follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
