Annie Agnew

October 31, 1935 — October 5, 2024

Annie Ruth Copeland Agnew departed this world on October 5, 2024 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her loved ones who entered heaven before her. She was born to Ada and Bill Copeland on October 31, 1935 in Fife, Alabama. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life services immediately following at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Cook officiating. Robert Ferguson will be speaking also. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Serenity. Pallbearers will be Randy Spaulding, Joel Agnew, Jason Orr, Evan Orr, Jaret Orr and Hunter Orr.

On March 23, 1952 she married Charles Edward Agnew. They were married for 72 wonderful years. They were blessed with a daughter and son, who gave them four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Annie Ruth is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Agnew; daughter, Yvonne Agnew Orr Spaulding (Randy) of Clay Alabamna and son, Elbert Lynen Agnew (Andea) of Troy, Alabama; grandsons, Jason Darrell Orr (Cindy), Jaret Benton Orr, and Joel Lynen Agnew (Kaley); granddaughter, Amanda Lea Agnew Dewey (Nolan); great-grandchildren, Evan and Lana Orr, Macy and Hunter Orr, and Mark and Evelyn Ann Dewey; brother, Otis Copeland of Hood Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews from Alabama to Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a child in heaven, son-in-law Eddie Orr; brothers, Earley, Robert, and Alton Copeland, and sister, Pluma Newman, Dorothy Pearman and Ruby Ditmar.

Annie Ruth accepted Christ in her teens and worked tirelessly for Him. She could cook anything and loved cooking for her family and friends. Nothing pleased her more than for a family member to ask for something special. If you came hungry or thirsty to her immaculate house, you sure didn't leave that way. She could also bake the best cakes around. Those cakes were often given to her family, doctors, church friends, neighbors and numerous others. She was the hostess with the mostest and always shared what she had.

Annie Ruth loved children and was a "child whisperer." All children seemed to go right to sleep with her rocking and singing "Your Are My Sunshine." She kept children from the church nursery, to her home, to backup for her daughter's daycare.

Annie Ruth Copeland Agnew was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all.
