Annette McCullars Spiers finished her earthly race and went home to live eternally with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 14, 2022. Annette was born on February 13, 1935 in Talladega County, Alabama. She was raised in Lincoln, Alabama where she graduated with the class of 1953 from Lincoln High School. Annette attended business school in Birmingham and worked at Fort McClennan in Anniston. It was while working at the Fort that she met James Spiers, her husband of 55 years. Annette and James were married in 1960. As a homemaker, Annette raised three children in Center Point, Alabama. She was very involved in church, first at Hilldale Baptist in Center Point, then Springville Road Community Church in Chalkville, and finally at First Baptist Moody. For many years, Annette taught women’s Bible studies but one her of greatest joys was teaching 5th and 6th grade Sunday School the last few years of her life.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel C. McCullars and Margaret R. Mcullars; and her husband, James B. Spiers. She is survived by her three children, David B. Spiers (Shannon), Philip C. Spiers (Kim), and Susan S. Jones (Jimmy); and two sisters, Mary M. Huie and Judy M. Chambliss. Annette had five grandchildren: Sarah, Christine, Regan, Alex, and Samantha; and one great-grandson: Liam.
