Annette Sager

Annette Hodo Sager, 74, of Odenville, AL. passed away peacefully December 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bessemer, Alabama to AD and Mary Lee Wilson Hodo. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Frank R. Sager, parents AD and Mary Lee Hodo, sisters Mary H. Rodgers and Jane Hodo, brothers Howard Hodo and John Hodo, daughter-in-law, Renee Sager. Anne was a 1962 graduate of Hueytown High School and a member of First Baptist Church Ashville. She loved antiquing, traveling with her family to the mountains of Hendersonville, NC and especially to the beaches of Alabama and Florida. Anne also enjoyed going on cruises with her nieces. She spent many Saturdays at Auburn University watching her grandson, Sam, marching with the band. Anne is survived by her children Leigh Anne Hutson (Robby) and Jeffrey R. Sager (Wendella); the joys of her life - grandchildren Sam and Gabby Sager, Hunter and Destiny Hutson, Kayla Blansit, Christopher and Jenny Reeves. Nieces Barbara Hatton (Richard), Hendersonville, North Carolina and Mary Jo Rogers, Mobile, Alabama. Special daughter Julie Miller, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family wishes to thank Dr. Shaily Lakhanpal and his staff at St. Vincent's East, Dr. John Fiveash and his staff at UAB's Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Center, Kym and Devin with Oasis Hospice, and especially the Care Givers of A to RN in Home Care, who took such amazing care of Anne during her final days, Elizabeth and David Cruse, Dakota Mullinax, Wendy Gilbert and Chad Lancaster. Service: Visitation: Wednesday, January 3rd, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville Funeral Service Thursday, January 4th, 12:00pm with her brother-in-law, Rev. Gary Burton and Brother Jay Stewart, officiating. Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. OPTIONAL Flowers will be accepted, however, a donation in Anne's honor to First Baptist Church of Ashville would be greatly appreciated or UAB Cancer Center and American Cancer Society.
