Amma Sue Hicks

Amma Sue Hicks, age 89 of Birmingham, AL passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1935 in Dora, AL and grew up with 9 siblings in a coal mining camp. She always said her greatest accomplishment was being a good wife and mother to her two boys. A notable personal achievement was when she owned her own Antique Shop in Remlap, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary McGee, former husband Loren Hicks Sr.; her brothers, Charlie Mack McGee, Jack McGee, Buddy McGee and Jerry McGee; sisters, Mary Dillyhon, Rebecca McGee, and Willie Jo McGee.

Sue is survived by her two sons James Hicks and Loren "Butch" Hicks, Jr.; sisters, Carol Harvey and Pam Baehner and very special grandson Joshua Hicks who she loved very much and enjoyed sharing many a breakfast with. Most importantly she loved her church Eastside Baptist Church where she was a member for 40 years and also worked in the daycare for 15 years. She especially enjoyed the many years she had in the Senior Dept. and the Sunday School Class where she made many lasting friendships.

The family will have a private service.
