ALVIN DAVID JACKSON
July 27, 1921 – February 14, 2021
Alvin David Jackson passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021. He was born in Cullman, Alabama on July 27, 1921. Proudly, he served in the United States Army during World War II in Normandy, Central Europe and Rhineland, Germany. Upon his discharge on December 1, 1945, he returned to the love of his life, Julia Kirkpatrick. They were married on December 5, 1945 and stayed forever sweethearts until her death in 2012.
He is survived by his son Mark David Jackson (Larry) and daughter Judi Eady (Barry). He was the proud Papa to 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth Kistner (Roy), Bradley Jackson (Sarah), Brandon Eady, and Trent Jackson (Heather) and 7 great-grandchildren: Tristan, Rex, Rory, Nikole, Shay, Art, and Julianna. He was proud uncle to a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Known for his kind spirit and deep love of Christ, he freely shared with those in need and taught his family how to love well.
Alvin retired after more than 41 years of service with the Birmingham City Board of Education as an electrician. He loved to garden. His green bean vines kept the family supplied for many years. He also enjoyed cooking and was known for making the best collard greens anyone had ever enjoyed. His caring spirit sustained him as he cared for Julia in her later years. He loved unconditionally. He trusted God. He gave freely. He left a legacy for his family to do the same.
Alvin will be laid to rest with a graveside service Saturday, February 20 at 11:00am Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Trussville, AL. We ask that you distance socially and wear a mask.
